Mods.That is the only reason this game is as popular as it is. The base content is crap. The only decent stuff is the NSCR 2006 and FISI 2006. But you go on rFactor Central, NoGripRacing or DrivingItalia and you will find more than enough mods to fill your hearts content. The simulation is great, AI is pretty good too. If you like GTR2, Race 07 or GT Legends, then this is the game for you!. The best racing sim of its time. Any car, any track, almost limiteless options and in-depth sim mechanics. Still holds up a decade on.. very good and well thought out gsme, but that statement doesnt count mods, F1, nascar, indycarect, basically any car ever made. Very good game once you have some good mods.. worst game iv played in a long time, shocking graphics, shocking sounds, over all ♥♥♥♥♥est game ever, dont waste you money and time on it. A very good simulation even to this day with a lackluster set of cars and tracks. Luckily the modding community makes up for this with about a thousand mods for every possible racing series in every possible year on every possible track. Some mods (such as DRM Revival, CTDP 2005, CTDP 2006, GTPC, Enduracers etc.) are good enough to be their own game entirely.That being said, the game is old and as a result, the AI and graphics are pretty poor.Pros:Utterly amazing simulatorAll the content you would ever want (with mods)Cons:AI are pretty bad (this is where rFactor 2 comes alive)Base game is boring (without mods)Game is from 2005 so the graphics aren't exactly brilliantSome content seems to be incompatable on anything post Windows XPNote: I have played over a thousand hours on this game before it was put on Steam.. I've played far more than 10.3 hours since I've had rFactor far longer than I've had the Steam Key. Let's start with pros and cons. It's rFactor-the swiss army knife of sim racing. Don't like what it does, download something totally different for it and change the game completely. Admittedly, the ISI content that comes with rFactor is not good when compared to what modders have done with the game. If you don't download any mods then I'd imagine you'd pretty damn disappointed with rFactor. If you download some mods, then you're going to enjoy it much more. Some mods I'd recommend-Enduracers-Historic Touring Cars-Cart Factor-V8 Supercars Unleashed-Formula E (having a blast with this at the moment)-DRM Revival (loud old cars with too much horsepower)As for tracks there are hundreds. Some of my favorites include-Any of the Australian tracks (Barbagello, Mt. Panorama, etc)-Monza, Nordschleife, Hockenheim, etcrFactor has great mods and tracks. It's a lot of fun to try them out. Sure you'll get some bad ones but you can't go wrong with any of the mods I listed above. I'm sure there's a few I've left out but I'm sure you'll discover them on your own. There are still mods being made for this and there's still about 100x as many mods for rFactor 1 as there are for rFactor 2. At this point, rFactor 1 is the better buy over rFactor 2 in my eyes.
